Why will my Firefox, set to warn me about closing a window with multiple tabs open, no longer even try to close?

Recently, maybe since the last update, Firefox does not respond when I try to close the window with multiple tabs open.

The close button lights up as it should but, then, nothing happens.

I see nothing in the general tab options or in Tab Mix Plus that could be causing this problem.

The only way I can close the browser window is to close all the individual tabs first.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
