It will not let me keep my home page like it use to. I change it and when I go back on again it asks if I want to keep current page. "Please get rid of ASK!!!" Thanks

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar and search for prefs that refer to ask.com. You can reset user set (bold) ask.com pref(s) via the right-click context menu to the default value.

Hi, please try working through Remove Ask Toolbar and Ask.com Search by Malware Tips - the article is a little old so you may have to improvise!

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

After removal you may need to reset your home page and search, which you can do by running the add-on SearchReset.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.
