I have been having this problem only on one windows 10 PC. Every time I launch Firefox it nearly instantly opens all my tabs. I can search, use links, read news for a good 5-10 seconds. After that, it looses internet connection and all websites stop responding for roughly 20 seconds. After the 20 second period, all is well again. I have removed the only ad blocking extension I used, no themes, all but a couple plugins are set to ask to start.

Hello AngrySpatula, try to change in the Network Preferences to "no proxy", go from 3-bar menu in your right up > Options > Advanced > Network > Connection area > click Settings > choose "No proxy" > click OK to save it > close the tab > close firefox from file and then exit > restart firefox.

thank you

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and Tab Groups and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
