window 9, latest Thunderbird. upon choosing 'write' it opens, upon entering address of 'sendee', a revolving circle spins, seeingly crashing. the page sometimes disappears, and sometimes add the sendee. then upon sending the msg, a popup appears requesting password, which repeats and nothing is sent.

I have deleted thunderbird and reloaded, also had expert check windows for errors(found none).

I still do not see where you have run Windows in safe mode. My apologies if I missed it, but in this case I think it is very important

My personal feeling is that the issue is intrinsic to Norton. But you also use ATT their ATT/Yahoo offering is perhaps one of the worse email products on the planet, so sorting this might take a little time.

Please restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click here for instructions on how to start windows 7 in safe mode: ,

Please explain that in more detail.

A password for what exactly?

sorry windows 7. password request box is asking for my email password. It does not accept the password and the same box asks again.

The spinning circle appears when I put the cursor on the first line of 'send to'....my address book appears..i choose one and click.

then thunderbird seemingly does not know what to do. the circle spins, and after 30 seconds or so, a pop up appears saying it can not send and do i want to delete or save the message.

So, one would think it is a corrupt thunderbird.. Also an online expert spent two hours with out success, after checking windows and delete/reload thunderbird.

so now I can receive messages, but can not reply. and when write function is clicked, it can not send.

any ideas? thanks

just tried again and realized that the spinning circle is the cursor. the arrow turns into the spin circle.

Try to start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled. - Win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode. - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

thanks for your help. you put me onto the thunderbird add-on removal in the thunderbird safe mode. I un-activated all addons. Results are the send ..works.. so the settings are correct: but still the 'write' function is looking for something and crashes after 20 sec or so.

I found the crash history which i can not understand.:

unknown property 9 rid auto columns declaration dropped Resources??gre-resources/va.css

I think we should give up, unless the info above is meaningful to you .

so thaks for you help.

Did you also start Windows in safe mode as suggested above?

This is probably a message from the Error Console. It isn't a crash.

I don't think I really understand what you're doing. If you put the cursor in a To: line in the Write window, no address book appears. You'd need to start typing a recipients name or address if you want to do it that way.

I think we should give up

Up to you.

you are correct about the cursor on the line, you must enter a letterto bring up the addresses...But one I click on one of them the page goes grey, the circle spins and the page either disappears, or it is saved in draft(after asking me should I save this).

your right I do not know everything, but this is (crash/error) is not listed in anygoogle article I see.

thanks for your help
