Incoming messages bouncing due to being "over quota" even after I have deleted emails and compacted folders. How do I delete emails from server?
Thunderbird Version 45.3 POP server account
I have deleted thousands of old emails and compacted the folders, but I am still getting incoming messages bounced back to sender due to being over quota. The "leave message on server" box is unchecked in the account settings. Don't know what to do at this point.

I found several "SENT" emails under the "SENT" folder on the server that needed to be deleted. Problem solved

Log into your account at your providers webmail page. Are there still lots of messages there? If so, delete them.
Is there some reason that you changed the default POP operation of downloading messages and removing them from the server? If not go into Account Settings and change that.
Thanks for reply. I logged into providers webmail page and there were only 16 emails in a "junk" folder, that's it.... The page states I have used 97% of my 100mb storage. I did not change the default setting, the box that asks if you want to leave the message on the server has always been unchecked.
Have a look in the spam and delete/trash folders on the server. You may be surprised by what you find.
