Emails received to my inbox result in a message to the sender that the message could not delivered because the recipients inbox is full. The address quoted is a gmail address of a person unknown to me and this address cannot be found in the address book. I have used several virus & malware programs to scan my computer without result. Any suggestions would be welcome

Non-delivery messages are generated by your providers server and not Thunderbird. I suggest you ask your provider.
