I'd like to have more tiles on my "New Tab" page. Is it possible to make the tiles smaller?

Hi   !

You could consider this add-on (WebExtension) :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/

Note that you can also zoom out the about:newtab page to see more tiles.

Just checked this. Don't think this will work for anyone. Seems the number of tiles are fixed. I have a 22-inch monitor. Always have only 15 tiles no matter what the zoom size is.

Not interested in adding another add-on. Just want to be able to add as many tiles as I want to New Tab page.

Be nice if Mozilla had a Feedback or Suggestion page.

Update: I did try to edit the about:config page for the "browser.newtabpage.rows" value. I changed it to 5, but doesn't seem to take effect. No change even after restart.

Maybe you know what else needs to be edited. The "browser.newtabpage.rows;5" value is 5 which is just right for me. Not the rows which doesn't change after editing Even set "browser.newtabpage.enhanced" to true. No change..

Setting browser.newtabpage.rows to 5 and zooming out the page to 40% works for me to see 25 (5x5) thumbnails.

Note that you can set custom zoom values.

I have browser.newtabpage.rows set to 5, but I should have been able to scroll down without resetting zoom value smaller than I can use on a 22-inch screen.

The zoom-in does show more, but too small for me to get what I want. Seems like the scroll bar should have scrolled pass so I could see the additional tiles at the size I want.

Really not interested in resetting the zoom values as using the mouse wheel or keyboard shortcuts is just fine with me for zooming when I want. May have to see if there is/are a setting(s) in the config file to make the scroll bar "detect" that there are additional rows. If you know already, appreciate the info.

Thanks for the info that you did give and taking the time to let me know.

Don't you see the scroll bar on the about:newtab page?

Zooming is only necessary when you want to see the full page without scrolling.

Either I wasn't clear or you missed what I was saying.

Zooming is NOT the problem. Only when the Zoom is set to normal (100%), there are only 15 tiles showing (5 by 3). The scroll bar is present and shows a scroll is possible, but scrolling down does not scroll to the other 10 tiles (5 by 5). It just scrolls a fraction then stops.

At 90%, I still have 15 tiles, no scroll bar shown so can't scroll to other 10 tiles. Only at 70% do I have 20 tiles, but smaller, of course. Still no scroll bar to even scroll down to see the other smaller 5 tiles.

At 60%, still 20 tiles, but smaller. No scroll bar of course since tiles are even smaller.

At 50%, I now see 25 tiles (5 by 5 set in config file), but way smaller.

I say again. At 100%, normal size, I should have 25 tiles in a 5 by 5 and a scroll bar that lets me scroll down pass the 15 tiles showing to see the other 10 tiles not showing at the time. It doesn't although the other 10 tiles are there I'm sure since a 5 by 5 was set in the config file.

Firefox is not working right for the new tab where content outside your monitor's viewing are should be able to be scrolled to WITHOUT having to change the view size smaller..

If the about:config file is edited for 5 rows and 5 columns, I have a large enough monitor to show 5 tiles across at 100% and the scroll bar, which is now showing at 100%. The 15 tiles are still at size for 100% which is normal. Yet, scroll bar does NOT scroll down far enough to show the last 5 tiles across at same size. It should since config file has been set for 5 by 5

If the window isn't wide enough to get 5 tiles then you can increase the number of rows to compensate that and have more rows with less tiles on each row (7x3=21; 8x3=25; 6x4=24).

That works for me to see a scroll bar are see the number of rows as set.

You're still not understanding.

My monitor is a 22-inch monitor. I have the 5 tiles across and zoom is set at normal (100%) which should not need changing to see the other 2 rows of 5 tiles each that are out of view (off screen at bottom). I should be able to scroll down at 100% to see the last 2 rows of 5 tiles.

Aside from the fact there is a scroll bar it only scrolls a fraction because there are NO 2 ROWS after the 3 rows I can see. I DO NOT need or want to change zoom from normal. It is not need on my 22-inch screen and resolution used.

The about:config is set correctly. Firefox is NOT using the settings correctly since you have to some out.
