I can not send email using my Thunderbird email. When I try to send a message, I get the message Looking up smtp-mail.outlook.com and it searches for the smtp and does not connect. I have use my current settings for a few years now with no issues. As far as I know, my smtp settings are correct.. smtp port 587 and using smtp-mail.outlook.com

The messages from two different accounts failed to send. Perhaps because I don't have Office 365 on this linux mint OS?

You don't need an Office 365 account to use the office365.com servers. Perhaps there's another reason you're failing to connect on sending; sometimes a password reset helps - Edit/Preferences/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, Show Passwords, delete password, OK, restart TB, enter password when prompted.
