Why is the bookmark 'star' not functioning as expected in Firefox 57?
Firefox 57 scrapped my bookmarks. It also refused to import my JSON files. Luckily, it DID accept the HTML bookmark export I had created. However, when I visit any of my bookmarked pages, the 'star' icon on the right end of the address bar does not highlight in blue. This is the case with ANY of my existing bookmarks.
HOWEVER.
If I recreate a bookmark by using the 'star' icon, from that point forward, the 'star' icon works as expected, highlighting when I visit the page that I bookmarked.
Should I delete the newly created bookmark, again, the 'star' icon will not function, even though that website is still listed in my bookmarks.
I have taken 2 screenshots , however, the attach function below does not function properly. These screenshots can be supplied at a later time if needed.
I believe this to be a bug in Firefox 57, along with several other issues. In fact, I updated to Firefox 57.0.1 this morning, and all my bookmarks disappeared. Luckily, I signed into Firefox sync and they all reloaded. The 'star' still does not function as intended.
Chosen solution
I have found the root cause of this issue.
Firefox doesn't recognize that http://www.amazon.com and https://www.amazon.com point to the same website. Since most of my bookmarks are older, few of them have the s added to the http. I suppose I'll need to go through and fix all my bookmarks.
