All of my settings, add-ons, and bookmarks are gone. It's like I am a brand new user. My other browsers still have their bookmarks and settings. Only Firefox was affected. The bookmarks toolbar also disappeared and when I restored it my bookmarks were not on it. Just the "Most Visited" and "Getting Started" bookmarks were there. What the F*** happened?! And more importantly how do I restore Firefox to its previous state?

Hi, Please look on the Desktop for a Folder called OldFirefoxProfile if it is there great. If not please look for a 2nd Profile here :

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks#w_i-can-see-only-the-default-set-of-bookmarks-in-the-bookmarks-folder They are in the Profile in :

  • bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
  • bookmark backups: compressed .jsonlz4 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder

Please note fyi for the future :

It sounds like the browser may have done a refresh. If so, your original profile should be saved in the Old Firefox folder Pkshadow spoke of.

There is no Firefox profile folder on my desktop, and when I went to the link that Pkshadow provided, and went to "open folder" under Application Basics, the "bookmarkbackups" folder is 1.18KB... There is nothing in it! Every other folder in the Profile folder is also empty, or is just a few KB. So now what do I do? Where did all my Firefox bookmarks, settings and add-ons go?

Let's see if you have more than 1 Profile :

  • Type about:profiles into the browser URL search bar and Enter.
  • The page presents a list of all of your profiles, each beginning with "Profile: " followed by its name.

There are two entries. One is Root Directory, followed by this string: C:\Users\unwan\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\b7ssrc6v.default (This is the same information I found when I followed your original link.)

The other is Local Directory, followed by this string: C:\Users\unwan\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\b7ssrc6v.default

Neither has any bookmark or other helpful info.
