discord for example, when you press ctrl+f it doesn't open default browser search function to search currently opened tab, but instead focuses on the built-in search function of discord that does a different thing - searches the entire hub. Is there a config or about config to prevent this behavior on all sites?

You can prevent a page to override the builtin shortcut by modifying the permissions allowed to that specific page. To do so:

1. Right-click on an empty area of the web page and select View Page Info from the context menu. 2. In the Page Info WIndow, right-click on Permissions 3. Search for Override Keyboard Shortcuts in the list 4. Uncheck Use Default and set the permission to Block

Note that you should always be able to open the search bar via the Edit menu or via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list (F3 might work as well).
