For years I've never been able to stream NBC Sports Gold on Firefox. Instead, the NBC Sports page gives this error:

Recent versions of Firefox do not support Adobe Flash with authenticated video streams. Please use an alternative browser.

I've contacted NBC Sports help and they say the issue is with Mozilla.

So, when will this be fixed? Or, how can I avoid this error in future, other than having to use another (lesser quality) browser?

Hi, Flash is going bye-bye this year, so I don't think that there is any other browser that will keep supporting it.

Flash will continue to be supported in the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) version until the end of 2020. So you can try to install Firefox ESR for now.

The Flash Player Plugin (NPAPI) from Adobe should still run in Firefox 78

Firefox since 69.0 has not allowed Flash to be set to always activate as you can only do never activate or click to activate. Some websites may have an issue due to needing to click to activate to make Flash run.

As said Adobe will be ending all support for their Flash Player Plugins at end of 2020. This has been known for a few years now as most sites have since switched to say HTML5 players for video, audio and games in place of using the Flash Plugin.
