Using Thunderbird I can get emails from Mediacom.com but can not reply or send new emails, when I try to send it ask for my password I enter my password and it rejects the password.

I have been using Thunderbird for years and never had this problem before.

Mediacom help had me use the Mediacom webpage email client and I could send emails using that so they said not a Mediacom problem its a Thunderbird problem.

I tried to send emails using 3 different Mediacom accounts none can send how ever I can send emails using a mail.com email account on the same installation of Thunderbird to my Mediacom email addresses, this tells me its a Mediacom problem since my mail.com still works?

Something strange is going on I am guessing Mediacom changed something someplace that is asking for a password and the password is not being accepted.

I need this resolved I have over 15 emails I need to reply too.

I have no clue what to tell Mediacom as I understand nothing about email settings.

There are almost as many reasons why you might be asked for a password as there are mail providers. Thunderbird defaults to that as the problem if it can not connect.

So really being asked for a password really only means there is a problem. It is probably not the password if you restate it and it does not work.

Restarting the operating system in safe mode with Networking eliminates thrid part software that loads on startup, including anti virus programs and their firewall. A major cause of connectivity problems with mail. Try it and see if things work in that mode. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

A test of the outgoing server for mediacom appear to indicate all is good in the DNS records for you to connect and send mail https://intodns.com/mediacombb.net

A test of the SSL Security indicates that the server offer TLS. 1.2 which Thunderbird supports. V1 and 1.1 are no longer supported. https://www.immuniweb.com/ssl/?id=C6qyejBZ

THe next test is to open the error console. (ctel+Shift+J) and clear it. Click to send your email and take note of any errors that appear in the error console. Please report those error back here.
