Feature suggestion: Add a filtered folder for newsletters (that only keeps the current one)

One feature that would be eminently helpful would be a filter folder / box that saves the last email message (or the last specified number of messages) from a newsletter or vendor site. I am subscribed to so many, but sometimes I'm only looking for the last few promotions, or coupons, or notifications, etc. I don't want to keep all the emails and to have to clean them out from time-to-time.

Having Thunderbird automatically delete a certain number or older than a certain date would be ideal. Emails that go into this box could be filtered by sender, and learning could be automated by right-clicking on those emails before they are sent into this box.

Thoughts?

Chosen solution

Filters run automatically only on the Inbox, but can run manually on any folder.

If some vendors send messages more or less frequently, create a separate filter for each one, with different Age in Days.

Create a filter like the one in the attached picture. Add a specific sender, or create an address book, e.g. testbook, that contains the addresses of all the senders you wish to filter.

Two comments:

  1. Seems like this would need to be manually run, and on a regular basis
  2. I would prefer a certain number from any given vendor, rather than age, but I understand that this is currently the only way to do it.

Not quite the elegance I was hoping for, but OK.

Also, I do want to acknowledge the hard and charitable work of the developers. Really, a big thank you.
