For the past couple of weeks Thunderbird has exhibited some unwanted behavior. #1 Thunderbird does not immediately check for emails when it is opened. I seems sometimes it is a 15 to 30 minutes, rarely less, sometimes more, before it checks for emails. It previously always checked on opening. Now I have to manually click on "Get Messages" or wait an unreasonable and inexplicable amount of time. Why the change, and how do I return it to its previous behavior?

Deleting session.json often also corrects the problem of not checking at startup.
