I used different methods like this one but it seems none of them are working. These are steps I'm doing:

  • Closing firefox
  • Deleteing new logins.json and key4.db
  • copying old logins.json and key3.db

However as soon as I open firefox it will create a key4.db file and overwrite login.json. I checked my old login.json is in correct format.

Eventually, Firefox drops the conversion code for old old old file formats and those files end up being ignored (or give a .corrupt file extension) if you drop them into the profile folder. It's possible that has happened with the older logins.json files.

Maybe try a converter such as:

Well ff-password-exporter only works for key4.db, However I think my only hope is installing those old versions of firefox and export those passwords in csv format and somehow import them in new firefox.
