Rendering completely broken after upgrade

more options

Rendering is completely broken after the upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. See attached image. This particular render is of the advanced preferences page, or actually the prompt warning that it could break something is somewhere in there. The mountains are my desktop, it's all alpha channel in Firefox. Nothing else seems broken, and other apps and games, both using GPU acceleration and not, are working fine.

I have removed and reinstalled firefox (snap remove firefox then snap install firefox) but did not delete all of the history files in between. (I am posting this from a different browser, since Firefox is unusable.)

Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, Firefox 105.0.3 (64-bit)

Try downloading Firefox from Mozilla, run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

What desktop? X11 or Wayland?

./firefox-bin works fine, no problems. Some more information: Running firefox from the command line produces the following:

Gtk-Message: 19:27:04.916: Failed to load module "xapp-gtk3-module" ATTENTION: default value of option mesa_glthread overridden by environment. ATTENTION: default value of option mesa_glthread overridden by environment. amdgpu: os_same_file_description couldn't determine if two DRM fds reference the same file description. If they do, bad things may happen! ATTENTION: default value of option mesa_glthread overridden by environment. ATTENTION: default value of option mesa_glthread overridden by environment. I did a sudo apt reinstall xapp, but it did not affect the above messages. I did the same for a sudo apt reinstall of snap (which is where firefox now lives as of Ubuntu 22.04), and then a remove and install of firefox; no changes. Running ./firefox-bin from the downloaded version doesn't have any errors.

Thanks for your help!

So Firefox from Mozilla has no issues. It sounds like a job for the Ubuntu forum. Not sure what you have in Ubuntu, but in past I would play with the setting for the Compositor for similar issues. see screenshot

Thanks. I will probably either switch or figure out how to replace the system installed firefox.
