When I'm reading a long email in Thunderbird and am well into it, if I switch back to my inbox to check another email and then return, my original email is no longer where I left off but has returned to the top. How can I keep this from happening?

The position is remembered only if messages are opened in windows, not tabs. The default can be set in Settings, or opening style can be selected from context menu.
