  1. Question

when closing firefox, it continues running in processes of the task manager. In order to open firefox again, I must open the task manager, stop the firefox process, then open as usual. This is frustrating to the point where IE is looking pretty good to me. I have removed firefox and reinstalled but the same thing happens. What gives

There's a lot of things that can cause this.

Start Firefox in safe mode with the Firefox (Safe Mode) shortcut in your Start menu. This will start firefox with all themes and plugins off.

If this doesn't fix the problem, it might be a problem with your profile or with Firefox itself.

If Safe Mode does fix it, then it's one of your plugins. Try enabling them one by one in Safe Mode until the problem occurs again. Specifically, I would look at Java and Flash plugins if I were you.

Note that it is normal for Firefox to take 3-5 seconds after being closed before the process quits, so be patient when testing it in Safe Mode.
