Why does Firefox show euro for every currency even if I want to see info in dollars/yen, etc?

When I browse a site with prices - eg a travel site , the browser always shows the euro symbol rather than the dollar symbol or whatever currency it should be! Is there a fix for this?

I see that you have a proxy extension installed.

Where is your current location reported?

My IP Address is showing up as Ireland where I live.

The proxy extension is normally disabled unless I am accessing a particular website.

Went back through my add ons and discovered a simple currency conversion which automatically changed any currency in the browser to euro!!

Clever but annoying and now disabled!!!!
