Why can't firefox open shortened URLs?

Firefox (and other browsers) is unable to load any shortened URLs. For example, I cannot open any links shortened by twitter or other shortened URLS, such as p.tl.

I always receive the "Problem loading page" screen.

How can I fix this?

not really a solution but take a look at this add-on that replaces short urls with the originals:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/long-url-please/

thank you

Yeah that hasn't solved the problem. Are potentially any settings in my computer that are blocking the URLS?

Can you open the p.tl site at all to create a link or does that fail as well?

No luck. I can access the site that uses the service - pixiv, but I can't use the urls themselves.

I have the same problem with Twitter's automatic URL shortening.
