I can't permanently turn off "private browsing" although i have tried through tools/ options/ etc etc
Firefox continues to impose "Private Browsing" even though i have tried to turn it off numerous times by going to "tools/options/privacy/Firefox will: remember history" Nothing works! I close Firefox, restart it and it goes back to private browsing.
Please advise me how to change this or i'm going to use Chrome instead of Firefox. Thanks

Type about:config in address bar.
Search for browser.privatebrowsing.autostart
It needs to be set as false. If it is true, double click on the line to invert.
"True" is not the default behaviour of firefox. If the setting changes again, check if an extension is responsible.
Modified
Thank you for your advice. I tried it and the setting was already at "false" but the problem persists :(( How do I check if an extension exists?? (I'm a novice to all this)
This extension disables Private Browsing, hides all the PB menu items and disables the keyboard controls, disables the clearing of browsing history, and the extension doesn't appear in the Add-ons except for the Firefox SafeMode.

This extension can only be disabled when in Safe Mode. This extension is only a simple fix. A technical savvy user will still be able to start Private Browsing.
Try right click on the icon you use to launch firefox -> Properties
Is there, after the firefox.exe command a parameter like /private ?
If yes, remove it.
