Much slower than 9.0.1 on sites that are easily testable. Why is that?

Loaded 10.0 after using 9.0 for a while. 10.0 is very much slower than 9.0 loading pages I've used for a long time. An example is the customizable Google page that allows a background image. Takes easily 8-10 times longer to load. More pages on request.
