When I updated to Firefox Version 3.6.27 - the software updater checks the add-ons for compatibility with this version.

It gets about 80% through and then hangs and stays there until I cancel it. It has done this a number of times since the update from .26 to .27

One of the links to the update URL of an extension may be broken or there may be server problems.

Did you try to wait longer to see if it times out or continues otherwise (this may take a few minutes)?
