I have a new Windows 7 laptop running Firefox 12.0. It does not remember passwords. The "Remember Password prompt comes up and I try to click it, but nothing happens. The prompt just stays there.

Checked Options/Security and the "Remember passwords for sites" is checked. there is nothing in the Exception list.

I can save these site passwords on my desktop running Windows Vista.

Any help or is it time to get a third party password manager?

Thanks, Brian

ok, then could you please try creating a new profile (that will basically reset all the preferences in firefox to default) and see if the problem is persisting afterwards...

did your new notebook arrive with preloaded security software / fingerprint scanner software that might interfere with firefox saving passwords?

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Thanks for the fast response. I am not aware of any security software nor is there a fingerprint reader.

I turned off the hardware acceleration and restarted Firefox.

Still have the same problem.
