Apparently I need to downgrade from flashplayer 11.3 to 11.2 to solve this problem, thereby losing the security updates in 11.3. I don't want to do this.

Does anyone know approximately when a flashplayer update that fixes this problem will be available? I've waited already several months for a fix.

Chosen solution

Go to www.mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/products/download.html and click the green button to download the Firefox installer to your desktop (or other location). Once it's saved, close Firefox and then double-click the Firefox Setup 14.0.1.exe file you downloaded to start the installation. Don't worry, you will not lose your bookmarks or other user data since that's saved in a separate location from the Firefox program files.

The bugs in Flash 11.3 that affect Firefox may be fixed in Firefox Flash 11.4 but it may be a few weeks or longer until it is released. I completely understand not wanting to downgrade to Flash 11.2 because it is insecure. See the following for other possible workarounds:

P.S. It appears that you are using Firefox 8 which is badly outdated and insecure. You should update Firefox to the latest version, currently Firefox 14.0.1 - see Update Firefox to the latest release for details.

When I click on Help/About Firefox/Apply Update to update my version 8.0, Firefox closes and then almost immediately opens again, still at version 8.0. How do I get to version 14 without losing all my bookmarks, etc.? I thought "Apply Update" was supposed to do it for me.

Thanks so much AliceWyman. Upgrading to Firefox version 14 from version 8 was simple, brought me up to date AND solved my flashplayer video problem to boot!

Hey, that's great! Thanks for letting me know that simply installing Firefox 14.0.1 solved your issues with Flash videos.
