Chosen solution

The update that was stopped was version 16. The update that fixes the security issue is 16.0.1 which, as of this writing is downloadable now. To force the update to happen before Firefox downloads it own its own, click on the orange Firefox button and hover over "Help", click on "About Firefox" which should start the process of the program searching for and downloading the new update. Restart when it's done and you should be good.

It was 16.0 that was stopped as the 16.0.1 was the update.

I have Firefox 16.0.1. For the first time in many years cannot access news.com.au site without big problems. Cool Previews will not work on the site The site keeps freezing. I get a message "Firefox not responding". Tried everything. Yes, including Java Script. Checked anti-spyware. Disabled Cool Previews. All ok on abc.com.au news site and smh.com au (Sydney Morning Herald) site. No problems on Internet Explorer but of course I don't have add-ons such as Cool Previews. Could the problem be with news.com.au (Rupert Murdoch newspapers) site?

Wrong thread bud :) but I'll try to help you as best as I can. My first thought would be that it's either an add-on issue itself with Cool Previews or the websites themselves, seeing in common the .au suffix. Does this issue happen on other websites?

Thanks for your help. Other web sites are ok, such as smh.com.au and Australian Broadcasting Commission (abc news.com.) Been using Firefox about eight years and would be lost without it. Solved many problems myself over the years but this one has me baffled. I even have trouble scrolling. Site freezes. Again thank you for taking the time to post an answer. Cheers. IAN

ATTENTION tl101spam: Re my problem with the site, news.com.au (News Ltd publications). As it turns out the problem was with the site itself. I have to stop blaming Firefox for everything. All back to normal. Thank you again for your interest and helpful suggestions. IAN
