Though I followed the steps to another helpful answer here on how to change Search Canvas from my default search browser, the files remain seen when I type in 'about:config', and I'm quite concerned for safety. When typing in 'about:config', the following files show:

blingee.Var1 blingee.Var10 blingee.Var2 blingee.Var3 blingee.Var4 blingee.Var5 blingee.Var6 blingee.Var7 blingee.Var8 blingee.Var9 blingee.cache.bgtb_include_xml_details blingee.firstlaunch blingee.guard.defaultengine_keyword_url (I cleared the 'Modify' text/URL in this one, which I hope was not a bad decision...) blingee.guard.defaultengine_name blingee.guid blingee.popupblockedcnt

I already uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox to no avail.

I would be extremely appreciative of any help. Thanks very much!

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
