Why do I lose buttons in newspaper comments section in Firefox but not in Google Chrome
I read the Huffington Post from time to time and like to comment on some of the articles. In Google Chrome each comment has three buttons at the bottom for you to select either to: Reply Favourite Flag as abusive
Now, if I access the site ( http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/) via Firefox, there is only the option to Reply to the comment. Why is this, is it something to do with Adblock which I have enabled and find really useful.

Did you try to disable Adblock Plus temporarily to see if that helps or check which content is getting blocked?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
I have disabled Adblock plus - no difference
I have started in safe mode - no difference
I already had annoying PopUps blocked for all sites and have now added Huffington Post as an exception and that seems to have worked. The 'favourite' and 'report abuse' buttons have reappeared.
There is another difference on the HP site between Firefox and Google Chrome. I can stay logged into GC for a day or more but on Firefox, I have to log in very frequently - so frequently that it is irritating. I may go to GC for this site.
Thanks for your help.

This problem is related to my post of 18 March. I sign in to the site, all buttons are visible, I click on a story to view and two of the buttons disappear (favourite and Flag as Abuse). I now realise this happens because as soon as I click on a story to view, I am no longer signed in and no longer have the right to select a Favourite comment or Flag an Abusive one.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.
- Tools > Options > Privacy: Use custom settings for history
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
Try to rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
It may be better to continue on my question about staying signed into the site. When I am no longer signed in, not by my choice, the buttons disappear. I raised the question about why I was only staying signed in until I clicked on an article elsewhere because at that time I did not realise that it was the same problem.
I have done everything suggested except '''"rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted"'''
Where can I find these files? I wonder why I have difficulty in locating FF & TB profiles.
When I click Italics, I now get quotes - what is going on? , same applies to Bold !!!!
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder
When I click Italics, I now get quotes - what is going on? , same applies to Bold !!!!
This site is built on a software engine that uses "wiki" markup. To see the effect of the markup before posting, you can use the Preview button.

Thank you for this information. I find it hard to remember which sites show formatting when you apply the format to the text and which ones show the formatted text after you post. I thought that yet another inexplicable thing was happening.
Thanks again.
