When I go to the web site https://commportal.telehop.com as of March-19-2013 it gives the error " This connection is untrusted". I get this message on Firefox 13 the latest version of firefox and the error message does not appear for Safari or Internet explorer. Can someone try this site and let me know wht they think the reason might be ?

Check this

The "https://commportal.telehop.com" server doesn't send a required intermediate certificate.

You can inspect the certificate chain via a site like this:

more options

You can Copy and Paste the certificate text of the intermediate certificate (Network Solutions DV Server CA) to a .cer text file and import the certificate in the Certificate Manager or via Firefox > New Tab > Open File.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : Encryption: Certificates - View Certificates

DO NOT set any trust bits, those are only required for root certificates and should never be set for intermediate certificates.

Cor-el can you explain further what you are asking me to change. i am familiaar with certificates and don't understand why several versions of firefox on different operating systems on different networks all provde the same untrusted host. Can you confirm if you get the same message. the site is https:commportal.telehop.com and is a VOIP company in Canada.

amjayakumars Does your version of firefox show the message "the connection is untrusted"

The site doesn't send the intermediate certificate, so you can either make an exception, but better is to install the missing intermediate certificate.
Because the www.networking4all.com website show the certificate text of this certificate, you can copy the certificate text to the clipboard and paste this text in a text file and save the file as "NetworkSolutions.cer" (be sure to select All Files and not Text Files when saving in Notepad).

You can install the intermediate certificate by importing this NetworkSolutions.cer file in the Firefox Certificate Manager.
