hello zeko, please go through the steps covered in Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should - they should contain the most common solutions for the issue you've described.

in case you cannot solve it this way you can also try to reset the browser...

I assume you are letting sites pick the fonts. See attached screen shot for that setting under

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content

Sometimes font appearance problems are caused by a graphics driver incompatibility. Could you try disabling Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration?

You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If you restart Firefox, is the issue improved at all?

It seems Arial Bold is taking over for Arial, but this is a standard system font, so it probably is not affected by the downloads you mentioned.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

That will open a dialog where you can remove the individual cookies.

Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help at all?

This can be a problem with the font that is used to display the text.

You can use this extension to see which fonts are used for text that is selected (rcm: Show fonts in selection).

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
  • [ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
