Firefox very slow to open 2nd and 3rd windows

When I click on the Firefox icon the Firefox / Google home page opens within 2 seconds and I can select an item from the Bookmarks. If I try to open a second, it takes about 20 seconds, and subsequent requests take progressively longer. This is a nuisance as I regularly need to have three or four items running at the same time.

Try clearing up your recent history and see if that works
