I have tried downloading the latest Adobe Flash version. And I have been able to see streaming content from this site in the past (Yahoo Sports). Now a video screen appears, but it is blank. Also, sometimes certain news videos will not play- the screen just stays blank.

That is likely caused by a malfunctioning real player plugin.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

I have the same problem, and I have tried all the troubleshooting and checked other support articles and users with similar problems, but still no luck. (Windows 8, on a new sony i7 laptop)

All plugins are up to date. Internet Explorer plays all these files without any problem, so I know it has to be Firefox issue or bug.

For example, I cannot play this video on Firefox, but it plays on IE:

Problem solved! I downloaded and installed Firefox 24.0 Beta. Apparently Mozilla programming team made all the right changes in the new release. Now all videos starting working on Yahoo and BBC.
