Whenever I try to open Firefox, all it does is open the crash reporter. When I press "Restart Firefox", it just opens yet another crash reporter. I'm using a PC.

I have tried all of the following, to no avail:

1. Reboot computer 2. System restore 3. Uninstall and reinstall (done this several times) 4. Delete the Firefox installation folder 5. Try to create a new profile/use profile manager using "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P, firefox.exe -P, and firefox.exe -profilemanager - and all this did was, again, open the crash reporter 6. Safe mode - I literally can't even open Firefox so I'm not sure how I would do this

I'm at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok, if %appdata% doesn't lead you to the right location you can also navigate manually to the folder with the crash reports (you might have to enable the showing of hidden files first). it is situated at C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted...

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks in advance!

I did this once before. After %APPDATA% I'm brought to a window that asks me "Choose the program you want to use to open this file". There is no Mozilla folder, only a list of programs on my laptop. I went to "Browse" anyway to see if I could find any folder within the Mozilla folder for Crash Reports - nothing. This is all I can get, and it's from the crash reporter that always comes up, no matter what I do:

That's all I can get.

Can't seem to get to that location. It keeps saying, "Windows can't find xyz. Check the spelling and try again."

I've tried navigating just from the C drive --> Users --> other folders, but once in Users the only folder that shows up is one called "Public", and there's nothing in it. I've enabled show hidden folders.

hmm, this is very strange, can you try to enter C:\Users\<substitute your username>\AppData\ directly into the address bar of windows explorer? (this is assuming that your system is installed on the c:\-drive) - without the crash ids it will just be very hard to know what's going on and what steps can be taken to address the crashes...

another thing to try would be to run a general search on your system for the filename: bp-*1310*.txt - this should bring up all crash reports submitted in this month (again, please make sure that hidden files and all locations on your hard-drive are included).

I really wish any one of these things would start working/turning something up, but I've entered it into the address bar, and nothing. General search for bp-*1310*.txt returns no items...

as a last resort you could see if the portable version of firefox works for you: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable (this is not provided my mozilla itself).

That app is really great, thanks so much. for a more permanent solution, hoping to get a response from my dozens of sent crash reports soon...
