I like the status bar being small and in the corner but I want to shift the default location to the right side instead of the left. Is there a way to do this?

I tried looking in the about:config but I didn't find anything.

Try downloading Status 4-Evar. There is a screenshot that says Status text. First screenshot. I'm assuming you can move it around.

I haven't tried this personally though so just mess around with it and if it doesn't work, come back here.

I do not wish to use Status 4-ever because all it does it return the status bar to the old FF3 version which is a full bar at the bottom of the window. I simply wish to make the one in FF4 move from the left to the right by default and then on mouseover it would pop to the left instead of the right.

You can find the CSS rules for the statuspanel in this file (search for statuspanel) and possibly override rules via code in userChrome.css with the !important flag.
