After downloading classic theme add on and then resetting browser.tab.on.top in about:config to false. Then clicked reset by accident and now it has disappeared whether I reinstall or reset all of Firefox

Chosen solution

browser.tabs.onTop is gone in Firefox 29. If you have Classic Theme Restorer,

  1. Open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A; Mac: Command+Shift+A), Extensions category.
  2. Click the Options button next to Classic Theme Restorer.
  3. In the top left corner, set "Tabs not on top"

Support to disable "Tabs on Top" has been removed from Firefox 29 and later and toggling the browser.tabs.onTop pref to false on the about:config page is no longer possible to get the tabs on top.

You can reset the browser.tabs.onTop pref to remove the pref from the about:config page on the next start of Firefox.
