Not a question, a suggestion. On the help page for using OAuth2 in Thunderbird, there are 2 things not specified. 1. In the SMTP settings, I couldn't select OAuth2 untli I changed the server from something older to, if I remember right, smtp.office365.com. The old entry was more like smtp.outlook.com. Then I had to close and restart Thunderbird. 2. Tbird still couldn't access my Outlook mail account. On Microsoft's security page, I had to create an "app password" and enter that in Thunderbird instead of my previous Outlook password. Either I made an error, or the first app password didn't work and I had to create another app password; that time it succeeded.
I've installd TB and connected it to my Gmail account. it started downloading the messages about 300 at a time. It reached 46k messages. Now it would only download 1 or 2… (read more)

Now it would only download 1 or 2 messages at atime... every time I click Get all new messages and it only got to april 2023... so it still has about 10k messages to download... Thank you for any sugestions!

Personal emails exhibit no problem. When I send emails to corporations via Thunderbird they do not now receive them. If I re-send them via Gmail, they do. Seems to me there must be some new elements added to Thunderbird that triggers corporate system screening rejection.
Been a long time Thunderbird user. This situation has just recently developed.
Is there a fix on my end?

keep getting error message unable to log in, please update your password, i am using a working password. i click on retry several times and it eventually logs in.

How can I restore Thunderbird settings and/or emails that were lost in the upgrade to version 128.2 (for Ubuntu)? Files for the previous version are still in the hidden .thunderbird folder on my hard disc, but the new version won't recognise them (even if I move them into the snap/thunderbird folder. I have an email backup, but version 128.2 doesn't seem to have a way to restore backed-up emails.

I'm running for quite a time Thunderbird on Windows up to Win11 without any problem. For about 3 years I'm using the same TB profile in dual boot environment with Linux Mint (v21 until last week and now version 22). I understood why I didn't get access from Linux side after the latest TB update in Windows as obviously the file structure and other things had changed to make it incompatible to elder versions.
However, as Linux is now my normal working environment, I've tried it again after upgraded my system to Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon 6.2.9 , kernel 6.8.0-44-generic and failed again, having the same error message when starting the profile: "Thunderbird is already running, but not responding. To use Thunderbird, you must first close the existing process, restart your device, ore use a different profile. "sudo killall Thunderbird" didn't find a running process.
I've tried importing everything in a new profile, which worked (more or less), but failed with all attempts getting access to my local profile. A local profile appears after importing but contains no data, trying to import its data separately doesn't trigger any error message when just ticking "E-Mail", but nothing is imported. When ticking "E-Mail" and "Settings", I'm getting a red alert that asks me to look into the error console which doesn't help either.
What can I do ????

I have been very happily using 115.15. Then, yesterday, I was upgraded to a new version that breaks my extensions. Thus I deleted the compatibility.ini file and downloaded 115.15 and installed that (windows os btw). Now everything works beautifully, except for the tags panel. The message number in the tags panel in the folder panel on the left does not update, and no messages appear in the message pane when I click on one of the tags.
What can I do to get this to work again?

I don't get the right menu list shown there. See the attachment which shows what I get when I right click on "Unified toolbar."
Am I using a different version 128.2.0esr?

The following happens from time to time and when it is a detailed email the result is annoying. I do not type expertly and I am sure this handicap is the source of the problem.
While typing an email text I will hit some key, or most likely inadvertent combination of keys, and the entire text I have typed is erased.
What combination of keys causes this problem, if that indeed is the source? Any way to permanently prevent by disabling something or another?

When i go to the Templates folder and click on one of the templates, it opens with the Address filled out correctly, but the Text Area is blank. i've Repaired the folder - does not fix it. i've Restarted TB - does not fix it.
If i select the Sent folder and select the message that was sent yesterday and created with the Template that was in the Template folder, it opens correctly - with the addresses and with the correct text. If i edit that msg and save it as a Template, i am able to go to the Template folder and select the newly created Template and it opens correctly. At the same time, ALL of the saved Templates now become available - ??!!!¡¡¡
