For several years we only had the free Avast service. Then for three years we bought the next grade up. Last December, we let the purchased grade lapse. But we are still getting, repeatedly, an ad asking if we want to renew the service. As a result of a phone call with Avast this morning, I became aware that the ad is not generated by Avast but by Firefox. PLEASE remove this ad from our computer. Sue Freseman

That is a pop-up window. Not using Firefox. You stopped using AVAST but did not remove the program, or one of its watch dogs.

Check the programs that are on your computer Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. (Mac: Open the "Applications" folder) Go thru the list and remove AVAST. Then reboot.
