mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image controls all remote content. Hopefully changing permissions.default.image will make the button reappear.

Note that the next version of Thunderbird should have a completely new management system for remote content.

If you can never see remote images because the "Show Remote Images" button is always missing check that permissions.default.image is set to 1 using theconfig editor.

Matt, I went to config, following the link you provided, and in bold lettering I see:

Preference Name: permissions.default.image Status: user set Type: integer Value: 2

If I change the Value 2 to Value 1 will "Show Remote images" become an option in a message. Or, will changing it to 1 allow the images to open automatically?

I haven't done anything yet, until I know what will happen.

Thanks . . . a lot.

Matt,

Modifying the 2 to 1 did the trick immediately.

It was driving me crazy, and I can't thank you enough for your expertise and time.

Best,

Tess

I have T-bird 24.6.0, their newest edition I think, and I see no options to see remote content. If there is a solution please be very thorough in describing how to address this issue as I'm not particularly T-bird literate.

Version 31 has been out a while now, and contains significant changes to remote image handling and white listing.
