Firefox told me that it was updating. Showing 33.1. Now when I am on a page the top of the screen where the menu and tabs are keeps "jumping" or flickering, also goes over top of page. I have adobe flash completely disabled because it crashed so often, even after reloading and making sure it was updated. Only allow it when absolutely needed on a page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.

Flash is notorious for not cleaning out the older version as part of an update. Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac Then reinstall the latest version.
