I have specifically told Firefox in the Applications section to not play MP3 files or anything like that (streams, playlists, etc) in the browser and to prompt me what I ought to do about it.

But still there are some sites where it will PLAY in the Browser even though I dont want it to.

This means I have to Save the mp3 file using the File > Save Page command rather than use the traditional Download box. And that means it prevents me from using my download accelerator, which means my download progress might be interrupted and I wont be able to resume the file download.

I need to make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN, as in 110% certainty, that NO MP3 files will EVER play in the browser. Like EVER.

You can try to disable the HTML5 media player if Firefox is using that player to play the mp3 file via the audio tag.

  • about:config page: media.directshow.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
