After making theme settings, they apply to my search engine and results, but not to a web page that I open; is this the way it's supposed to be?
I customized my appearance using the theme menu of firefox. After doing this, the background and text colors appear OK on my search engine home page and the listed search results, but as soon as I go to a selected web page (e.g., Google News), the colors revert to black text on white background. If I use NoSquint, I can override the appearance on a web page, and it also overrides the theme settings on my search engine web page and search list. Does customizing with the theme menu apply only to the search engine web page (which is really firefox with the search engine I'm using - current home page) and the search results page? Or can I do something to be able to only use the theme menu and have it apply to all sites? I would prefer this if I could, because I can enter hex color codes with the theme menu and I get a better look.

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but... I don't think I have a Theme menu. Where do you find that? Could it be a feature of one of your add-ons?
When you're on your home page, should come down as an option when you click on the pull-down menu
And yes, it's part of firefox
Maybe I removed it from the menu. I found it in the Customize panel (screen shot attached).
As far as I know, these themes do not touch web page content. You probably need an extension to customize pages. Here are a couple examples I saw a while ago, I haven't done a fresh search:

I'm using NoSquint to set my colors, but you can use the Mozilla menu to choose colors and override the web page colors; I have done it often.
Overriding web page colors affects background images, so this may not be a good way to achieve this and NoSquint is likely to perform better and avoids issues with buttons and other clickable elements that consist of a background image.

If you go into Preferences > Content > Color you can globally override page colors, true, but seldom with satisfying results...
