My mom (who lives a 1000 miles from me) can not get Thunderbird to work anymore. It just stays on the home page with no folders showing. I researched the help section here and found the fix that applies to the lightning addon. I walked her through by phone on doing that and successfully disabled that add on through safe mode. No luck. So disabled all add ons and restarted, Still no go. Finally removed it but still went right to home page. So I showed her how to start Thunderbird in safe mode so she can at least check her email but was hoping someone had a permanent fix I could walk her through. So grateful for any help. Thanks!!

Start Thunderbird in safe mode. Remove Lightning via the Add-Ons Manager. Restart Thunderbird. I suppose Lightning won't be required. In case it will be required, you can install it again from AMO. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/

I am sorry. I guess you didn't have time to read my post. I actually researched and did all that already and it did not resolve the problem.
