Over the years, I have saved many, many web pages using "save as .mht". With Quantum, I can no longer load and read them. Is there some way of being able to do that? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Pkshadow. Thanks for your quick reply :-) I tried your suggestion and all I got was a blank page with the little circle in the browser tab just going round and round for 5 minutes before I closed it. I am running IE 11 under Win 7 (64 bit). I would appreciate any further suggestions.

update: One reason I switched to Firefox from IE was because IE 11 couldn't open my previously saved .mht web pages. So when I tried your suggestion of using IE11 to view my .mht files, I encountered the same problem. Doing some research on this IE11 problem I was having led me to uninstall and then re-install an earlier version and it is now opening my .mht files.

Over the years, I have taken a liking to Firefox and if possible, may try to revert to an earlier version so that I could continue to use it as I had been.

Thanks for your help and pointing me in the right direction.

Make a copy of one of your files and save as .MHTML It should open in IE as default. Best can figure out for now.

Some of these will not work am sure also : https://extension.nirsoft.net/mht

It does work as I changed a html file to that then when double clicked it opened in IE. Also the info came from Microsoft.

Try making a copy of the file and changing it to just html and see what happens.

Can download a Web Editor and open it in that http://bluegriffon.org/ and see about saving it in that or open and extract the info or work with it...really do not know.

Can try this so can get your files back and save them in another format that works on all browsers and is supported by others.

Uninstall : Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
