Hi, I used to have 3x3 tiles on the New Tab page, but after the latest update I can only get 2x8 or 1x8 tabs, all very small. How can I get back the 3x3 look without an add-on? Thanks!

The 3x3 tile option was removed in one of the updates. There is no native way to bring that feature back. Sorry.

You will have to zoom the about:newtab page quite a bit to get 3x3 tiles on the page. You need to adjust the number of rows via the newtab*row pref on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.topSitesRows

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

You can modify toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues on the about:config page to add extra zoom values.

Thanks, cor-el, I've managed to get 3 rows using browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.topSitesRows. Is there a fix for getting only 3 columns as well? (The browser.newtabpage.columns already has "3" as its set value, but I still have 8 columns.)
