How can I avoid the vertical lines Thunderbird inserts on replies (Mac, v78)?

I would like not have vertical bars and indentations inserted when I reply to emails. I searched for an answer to this and found:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1144690

I tried this and it does not work for me. I know I may have done something wrong, but after looking at it over and over, I can't figure out what is wrong. I think I did everything correct and Thunderbird still inserts the vertical bar and indents when I reply to an email.

Is this still a valid solution or is there something else I should do to remove the vertical bars that get inserted when I reply to an email?

Thanks,

JS

Thank you for the quick reply!! Perfection!

I "undid" the changes suggested in that older post and it works as expected.
