When I am already on a website and try to search a new website in the search bar it opens a new tab. Is there a option to search in the same tab? I already tried browser.search.openintab in the about:config. And after restarting the browser that didn't work.

Hello. The preference browser.search.openintab should be set to false. If it still doesn't work, try to do the exact behaviour (searching) in Firefox safe mode.
