I used to use something like file:/// to get the root dir listing. I could then go to subdirs and read files. It appears that Firefox now only accesses files it downloads and it won't download HTML files. Is it possible to do the old actions?

Hi

I am sorry, but that is not longer possible in Firefox for Android. We are testing downloading pages as .pdf files at the moment and hope to make it more widely available soon.

Why such extreme restrictions? PDF conversion is unnecessary and inconvenient. I can download using FDM (free download manager) but then I can't use Firefox.

It was a decision taken and implemented over two years ago. The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or developers.

If you want to leave feedback for developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select either Share ideas and feedback… or Submit feedback…, depending on your Firefox version. Alternatively, you can use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

You can also file a bug report or feature request. See File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.
