I use a dialup ISP, does the Firefox download allow for interruptions?

My dialup service uses a timer that will disconnect me when I try to download large files. Some sources of the files provide for such interruptions and allow the download to be resumed where it was interrupted, instead of having to start all over again. Does the download of Firefox have this capability? If not, I will not be able to download it.

As long as you don't close Firefox and the website allows interrupted downloads to be resumed, in the Downloads window right-click the partial download and use Resume.

You may not be able to use Resume in the Download manager if the download wasn't paused but got interrupted.

In that case you may need to use other methods to resume the download.

See [/questions/761494]

  • Move the old .part partial download and the final file without the .part that has size 0 to another location.
  • Start a new download and pause it, don't close Firefox.
  • Copy the two files (.part and 0 byte final) that you moved above back to the download location to replace the new files that were created.
  • Resume the download in Firefox.

If that doesn't work then the server may not support resuming.

Thank you the-edmeister and cor-el. I am sorry, I did not pose my question well. But, I have resolved the issue and withdraw the question. I will try downloading the Firefox browser and, if it is interrupted, try again to see if the download resumes where the interruption. I hope it does, as I have heard good things about Firefox.

Question withdrawn.
