I want to delete my browsing history, cookies and cache but I want to keep my download history, all of it.

I can't remember which version this was, but after updating, I deleted my browser history and noticed my download history was deleted up to a certain point, before the update. The last time I tried, I could delete my cookies and cache and my download history wasn't affected.

I see in the "Clear Recent History" dialog that browsing and download history are consider one thing. It wasn't one thing before.

Go to Options window > Privacy panel > in History session click Use custom setting for History > Clear history when Firefox closes then Settings button is active click it and then click everything except Download history or other things you want to keep it > click OK to save it, exit firefox and restart it.

Hi

I understand your problem. Here i give a solution to you.

1.Go to Firefox option ----- Tools-->Options 2. Under the Privacy tab you can see the options for History 3. In the Drop down list you choose this option Use custom setting for History 4. Here you unchecked the option which u don't want. 5. Yep solve your problem, I think so.

This does not do what I want. This will make Firefox remember everything except my browser history from now onwards.

What I want to do is delete my old browser history but, at the same time, keep my download history.

Currently, if I delete my "Today" browser history, all of the downloads in my download history for today (2/8/2012) are deleted.

Your solution might work but I don't want to test it because I found another solution.

CCleaner does what I want.

You can make a backup copy of the downloads.sqlite database file if you want to make sure to keep the download history.
Then you can restore the file if you lose the download history for some reason.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
